Provided by DexKnowsI buy a lit of stainless steel, maybe $10,000/ year. I called Davis Salvage to check on remnants, the person wasn't friendly but told me they sold it for $2.00/pound. Not bad for remnants. I went and asked for directions to the remnant selection. Selection was light but I picked up 80 pounds. The curt sales person said $320. I inquired why and they told me it was new and they gave me a break off the regular.$4.50/pound price.Okay I was in a hurry and paid. Normally I pay from $1.90 to $2.65 at Industrial Metal.I get home and discover welding on one piece and on a piece of 2" rod was actually steel not stainless (one end was seriously rusted and it was strongly magnetic). Yes, 400 stainless is slightly magnetic but this was steel. The counter fellow first used a magnet to determine if I was correct, strongly magnet. He then tried to say it was 400 stainless and he had a $30,000 gun that would prove it. He never produced any gun and begrudgingly started a refund. He produced a credit for $29.00, the piece weighed 11 lbs. When I questioned him he said he figured it out and that was it. Hmm 11 pounds at $4.00 per pound. So here is my suggestion: Industrial Metal
