My children have attended Awakening Seed School since they were two years old. My youngest son graduates this year, 2011 and my daughter left last year. The Seed embraces the diversity of teachers and students and allows learning to evolve in an organic way, based on the interests of the students. A connection to nature and the Earth, a strong emphasis on personal responsibility and the tenants of compassion and kindness are an integral part of a dynamic curriculum. During their time at the school, my children grew vegetables and herbs in their own outdoor areas, went back in time and studied Egypt and China (in kindergarten) and countless other innovative activities. In preschool, children are learning about the rain forest, dinosaurs and parts of the body in ways that are age appropriate but highly creative. I love this school and know that as my children move forward they do so with more confidence and a better sense of their place in the world.
