I have had a seasonal campsite at Black Bear for the past four years. The owners are friendly and so are the people. The grounds are beautiful and well Kept. It's right on the Esopus Creek, so you can go tubing or just hang out it the creek. You park your car and leave it, because you can walk to town and find anything you need. I brought some friends up once and the next week they had a camper on the site next door. It's my little get away in the Catskills. Love it!!!!

A group of friends found this place one year after Steve's Campsites closed, there wasn't even anyone there for wood, to pay, for anything. the following year we went up, bam, new owners. These people are the coolest people around, they let us party all nite, and sleep all day. We love the spots by the water and listening to that and star gazing.....AMAZING is all that comes to mind. Try them out, camping at its best

What can i say, i was asked to review this campsite by the owners. Knowing how much i love the place, words will not do it justice, views, fishing, location, and the kindness in the owners brings camping to a different level. Assistance with anything you need, a short walk into town for milk and water and your set. This place is the best campsite the Catskills have to offer, try it you'll never go anywhere else

fishing from this spot gives you the best start off, leave camp and go down to the resevior, truly the best. Enough space to feel like the true wilderness. Cook up your catch and spend the night under the stars, listening to the creek. ESOPUS. Black Bear Rules ! ! ! ! ! !

The only place around that lets you get rowdy all night all day long, we love it, once a year we go up to see george and linda and we blaze a fire into the wee hours of the morning. About 25 guys go up each year and would go no other place. Friends go fishing basically from the tents. Its a beauftiful spot and the place gets better each year.

i have been camping in the catskill area fro more than 25 years. The most recent owners of black bear have been thee most accomodating. They have been there for closse to ten years now and it get better each year. From the welcome center to the items for sale, this is by far the cleanest and nicest area i've ever been to. It is a pleasure, my wife and i take in about 3-4 times a year. The owners are the best, the woods dry the views are amazing and sleeping by the water, well what else can i say....
