General Info

WOMEN'S WAY was formed in the mid-1970 s by a group of women running women-focused agencies that were struggling to keep their doors open. The causes they served - wage equity, rape crisis, domestic violence, reproductive freedom - were controversial and hard to fund. With a seed grant from The William Penn Foundation, they joined together to raise a collective voice and to generate courageous funding for issues impacting women. In its 31 years of service, WOMEN'S WAY has put over 20 million dollars to work to enhance the lives of women and families and to provide vital support and assistance to the agencies that serve them. Each year, WOMEN'S WAY allocates critical operating funds to six member agencies ( CHOICE, Community Women s Education Project, Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Supportive Older Women s Network, Tenant Union Representative Network and Women Organized Against Rape ). WOMEN'S WAY also provides grants to a dynamic group of agencies through its Community Women s Fund. The Community Women s Fund is an open grant-making program for agencies run by and for women in the Delaware Valley. Through this fund, WOMEN S WAY makes substantial grants twice a year to organizations that provide a myriad of services outside the scope of our member agencies. Current communication, education and advocacy initiatives bring WOMEN'S WAY's tagline, A Powerful Voice for Women, to life. The annual Women & Influence Conference is a public forum that develops women's leadership skills and provides practical information. Each year the Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize honors a female author for a compelling book that advances the dialogue around women's issues. Special events like the Annual Event, Fall Gala, Young Women's Initiative Happy Hours and Donor Appreciation Event help us reach broad, new audiences. Electronic newsletters and advocacy alerts, critical media placements and commentaries, a signature research report and a useful website all combine to bring visibility to women's issues and help generate positive change. WOMEN'S WAY helps make our region a safer, more equitable place for women and their families to thrive because we put funding and resources into the hands of agencies that work directly with the most vulnerable, at-risk women and girls in our community. Please give today. A gift to WOMEN'S WAY supports a comprehensive and diverse range of services and will reach deep into the community to empower women from all walks of life. Your contribution touches the lives of thousands of women and girls in our community each year. You will support many agencies with a wide variety of missions that are connected because they are working hard, each and every day, to improve the quality of life for countless women and their families and because they receive vital support from WOMENS WAY. We pledge to be good stewards of your gift and ensure that it is put right to work helping effective agencies combat injustices, create social change and serve the urgent needs of women, girls and families.
