Since most batters aren't born with Babe Ruth's panache, it takes practice to hone the perfect swingand the perfect swing requires perfect pitches. Because of this, Philly Athletics gives sluggers the next-best-thing to a cyborg Sandy Koufax with an arsenal of pitching machines from Iron Mike and ATEC, which allows hitters to take swings at curveballs as well as fastballs. In addition to the batting cages, the 10,000-square-foot complex is stuffed with other sporting amusements, including Ping-Pong, pool tables, and arcade games.
