One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my life was to attend Chester Turner's School in Tacony. The other reviews here are a scam. This nincompoop is an age discriminator, and told me after two days in his class that I was too "uncoordinated to weld" Kinda funny, since I was a master industrial blacksmith, which requires an humongous amount of hand-eye coordination. The TRUTH is that because I was in my sixties, he discovered that I would have a hard time finding employment in the welding field, at my age. What rectified this for me is that I went on to COMPLETE the Community College program for welding certification, which I breezed through with flying colors. Dave Poe, a universally recognized welding instructor, guided me into becoming an extremely competent welder. This folly of trusting Mister Turner cost me about six months of my life. He has been deleting negative reviews of his class for a long time. Right after he sent me packing, I took, the liberty of reviewing this site, where there were several negative reviews. What happened to them?
I am a recent graduate of ITTI in June of 2017. My class size was about 4 people total. The place itself is pretty big with many welding machines. From where I was - looking for new career opportunities to where I am now - employed with a great company I enjoy working for, ITTI played a major role to it happening. I am grateful to Mr. Chester Turner and his welding program. I also wish my classmates great careers in welding also.As far as the program itself.. You train in MIG, Stick and TIG welding process. Everyday, you come in and you weld weld and weld.. repetition is the key and you get tons of repetition. Eventually, your program does get some textbook work to fill in the theory aspect. As far as Chester Turner himself...he is an older man, so do not expect him to be lovey dovey to you. He views your training program as a bootcamp and treats you like you are in one. Eventually you and him will get to know each other and you see why he teaches the way he teaches - safety being a major reason but also, employers want the students to know what he teaches. For the young 18 - 21 year olds.. Chester Turner does seem to have a soft heart for them relative to older folks, as he seems to cut them many more breaks and understand their emotional fragility and holds their hands more. Overall, the training program was great for me, because it got me a great career I was looking for. Because of this I am pleased that I went through the program and would recommend any one looking into welding as a career to consider ITTI. Good luck if you enjoy learning about and working in welding as much as I do.

I have been a student of ITTI for the past 3 months, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made in pursuing a higher plane of skill in welding. Mr. Turner is a very strict instructor, and will not let anyone slide in the quality of their welds. Every day is a test of your ability, and you will leave every single day with the peace of mind that you are continuing to improve your abilities, little by little. having the peace of mind knowing that there will be an excellent job at the end of my training gave me more incentive to push myself harder each day in order to maximize my skills to obtain the highest payrates out there.

I highly recommend this school, the instructor is one of the toughest around, he play no games with you and makes sure you get your welds looking right, and also there is a young instructor there too who is highly talented and easy to talk to, he walks you step by step and shows you exactly what you have to do
