Phenix City Intermediate School, established in 1961, offers education to students in grades five through seven. It has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students and is affiliated with the Phenix City Public School District. The school has a parent-teacher association that organizes fundraising events and undertakes school improvement programs. Its curriculum includes various subjects, such as English, physical and special education, mathematics, computers, arts, science and social studies. It is a NASA Explorer School and undertakes various research-based activities and provides special programs that include astronomy nights, science explorations and fairs. The amenities offered by the school include gymnasium, outdoor classrooms, greenhouses, library and media center, and auditorium and butterfly garden. The school offers a variety of sports activities to students, such as volleyball, basketball, football, cross country, baseball and track and field. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is located in Phenix City, Ala.
