Strengthen Our Sisters is a community-based, nonprofit shelter program that serves homeless women and children. It works to decrease domestic violence, poverty and abuse by restoring balance and harmony through individual empowerment. The program also advocates legal, social service housing needs and entitlements of women. Strengthen Our Sisters offers computer learning classes and provides counseling and workshops in developing productive attitudes, parenting skills, stress management and communication skills. It additionally supports teenage skills and international exchange programs. The program receives funding through various corporations, foundations and businesses. Strengthen Our Sisters includes a 55-bed shelter program that offers information regarding legislation on domestic violence.
