- Joint Replacement
- Knee ReplacementI have worked closely with orthopedic surgeons to develop innovative and effective post-surgical physical therapy guidelines and protocols. These guidelines and protocols ensure direct communication between physician, patient and physical therapist at all stages of rehabilitation. Currently I am a guest lecturer and an adjunct faculty on total joint replacements at A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ for the Physical Therapy program and APTA certified Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency program. I have been working with Total Hip and Knee replacement patients for past 25 years.
- Physical TherapyAchieving knee and hip ROM is just the tip of the iceberg in TKA and THA physical therapy. Decreasing swelling, pain are first priority followed by stretching tight muscles and than strengthening weaker muscles. Once we achieve ROM that allows function move further with higher level rehabilitation. (strength, proprioception, neuromuscular re-education, balance, gait quality).
