It manages an investigations bureau that handles automobile theft and domestic violence cases. The department operates a detective division that is responsible for crime scene search and evidence collection. The Pasadena Police Department also manages a burglary, theft, and property crimes unit. In addition, the department investigates cold cases. It manages the Citizens Police Academy, which is a more than 10-week course. The department offers explosive ordnance disposal and crime prevention services.
