Founded in 1956, Parks Elementary serves more than 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school imparts reading skills to elementary students through phonics instruction. Additionally, it conducts classes in art, music, physical education, library skills, science and computer applications. Parks Elementary also has a library and media center that provides a variety of resources, such as books, journals, magazines and Internet access. The school operates fine arts, computer applications, and health and physical education departments. It has a staff that includes a psychologist, speech pathologist, and physical and occupational therapists. Parks Elementary is a part of the Pasadena Independent School District.
