Huntington Medical Research Institutes is nonprofit, public-benefit organization dedicated to improving health and prolonging life by enhancing knowledge of life processes and disease and developing technology to diagnose and treat diseases. Its developments include the hydrocephalus shunt to treat water-on-the-brain, studies on biomedical applications of laser energy, cancer research, electronic neural rehabilitation technology and applications of medical magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy. Huntington Medical Research Institutes was founded in 1952 and operates in five locations in Pasadena, Calif.
