Milauskas Eye Institute, since opening more than 20 years ago, has always aspired to be on the cutting edge of ophthalmic technology and specializes in many areas of ophthalmology and eye care. It is the only ophthalmic practice in the desert with its own on-site Intralase system. With this breakthrough technology, laser vision correction can now be performed without any blades at all. For the patient, this means predictably better vision, and a procedure that is uniquely safe and uniquely precise. The institute surgeons were among the first ophthalmic surgeons in the country to use the AcrySof ReSTOR Intraocular Lens Implant. The AcrySof ReSTOR intraocular lens is an artificial lens used in cataract surgery for patients with and without presbyopia. The unique patented optic design results in highly-predictable visual acuity results, meaning patients can read the font on items such as prescription bottles, magazines, newspapers and computer screens, while also providing the ability to see items at a distance independent of reading glasses or bifocals. The institute's optical departments carry the latest styles of eye wear, as well as many contact lens brands. There are four MEI locations in Palm Springs, Calif.
