I was appalled to read the prior review. The person is not a resident as she says. But also a resident would tell you kids do not live here. Most of the residents are elderly, but I'm 60 and one of the youngest on my floor. My older neighbors love me. They tell me im a youngter. I love that. The freight elevator is in operation. And a gurney will fit in both elevators. The elevators are the exact same length but different widths. I have never hear of or seen a paitient laid on the floor That's ridiculous. Iim not sure why the reviewer thinks it's importa that there are cameras on the top floor. I'm pretty sure there's not tho. I really don't see why we should pay for a security guard when I've never heard of any crime here. If an elderly has a pet im sure a concerned family member could hire a dog walker. I don't think the property mangement should pay for that. If you are a relative I think you need to visit your relative more.

I was appalled by the conditio...

I was appalled by the condition of the building. The elevators were broken when we were there, but they were working on a freight elevator that was slated for build. There are people who DO NOT need to be living there who are pedaling the residents prescription drugs and there are even cameras on the top floor to monitor those coming and going. If they know there are residents there dealing in prescription drugs and installed cameras on the top floor, then why havnt they been evicted? Because the leasing agency for the property is getting a section8 check for them, thats why.

If there is a fire or a medical emergency, the elevators are useless because one of them cant even accommodate a ambulance gurney. Someone told me they just lay the person on the floor of the elevator until they go (very slowly) down the floors to the lobby.

The laundry room floods if more than 1 washing machine is started at one time. Thats both un-effective and unsafe.

The residents police the areas pets are walked, forcing those in poor health to venture off property to take pets to potty. There is so much area than can be allocated as a pet relief area and there are companies or people who are paid to clean up after the animals. They are called pet butlers they are all over where I live. I had to witness a resident in frail health try to bend down and pick up poo from her dog. She could have fallen or slipped and no one would know until its too late. The residents are forced to prove they took their pets out by telling the person at the so called security desk. The security desk which is NOT manned at night, when its necessary as all sorts of shady people come and go buying prescrip drugs.

They have a gift shop but the money does NOT go to the residents. There are so many talented residents that do crafts that can be sold and the money could be used to purchase goods and services that would benefit the residents. I know of a few residents who are in favor of this.

There is nothing welcoming or endearing about Jackson House. No outdoor recreation for residents, just a stark parking lot and bleak reminder of their existence. The room on the 20th floor for residents and staff to hold meetings and have guests is the only nicely appointed spot in the building. Residents are constantly reminded of just how miserable their apartments are when they view the nice cupboards, appliances and floors of this room, which is exactly the same floor plan as their apartments, minus the wall the separates the bedroom from living room.

It saddens me that the people here police over trivial stuff, fights erupt in the elevator or on the floors because the people are just too miserable, there is very little to make the building look like a more homey place and the residents have no place to relax like a sun room that would provide a cheery and relaxing environment to separate them from the crumbling facade of downtown Paducah. If Obama has extra funds for silly stuff, he should allocate money to enrich the retirement homes, assisted living facilities and section8 residences for those whom are aging or in poor health.

Also, KICK OUT the young folks with kids and younger residents who CLAIM disability, who are either sponging off the welfare system or selling drugs from the elderly because they are bringing an unsavory element to the building and making it unsafe for the residents.

BTW, Jackson House management......get the elevators inspected before there are enough calls to the building inspector and health department to cause your building to close and displace residents who are there, not because they want to be, but have to be. You are taking advantage of the residents dependency on this kind of living situation because you can. I CANT TAKE VISITING ONE MORE TIME TO TAKE THE ELEVATORS AND TRIP WHEN THEY DONT MEET UP WITH THE LANDING CORRECTLY. One day you will be sued when a resident trips getting on or off bause of this. Its UNSAFE!!!!!!
