The Planning and Development Services Department works to provide building safety, engineering and management services, long-range planning for issues related to health and environment. Its community services section supports the neighborhood conservation program that assists residents with organizing new neighborhood groups, provides short-term support and offers guidance and communication training to new leaders and group members. The department issues permits for buildings, food services, septic systems, solid waste vehicles, signs and special events. The Planning and Development Services Department also supports the special inspections program that involves the installation, fabrication, erection and placement of components with connections of buildings and structures.
