Founded in 1995, Heartland Elementary School is a part of the Blue Valley Unified School District 229. It serves more than 490 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It offers a variety of educational programs for the intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development of students. The school s academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as communication arts, computers, mathematics, language arts, foreign languages, science and social studies. It also provides instruction in art, health education, library skills and music. The school provides classroom guidance and academic counseling to students. It offers a literary enrichment and recreational reading program, Reading Enjoyment and Appreciation of Literature (R.E.A.L.). The school s reading intervention program provides additional reading support to qualifying students. It has a library that has a collection of reading and reference materials.
