The principal is terrible. She needs to cloak her cleavage, get out of her clubbing clothes & get with the program. She has also embarrassed a teacher by informally announcing a long-standing substitute teacher's departure by telling the students to say good bye to Mr. _____ because it was his last day. She put the students into tears and probably forever scarred that teacher. Dozens of emails were sent to those above her & I could say a few things she has done to my family personally - but I won't - I will save it now. She has immeasurably changed my child's life forever. A few too many apathetic & non-noteworthy teachers also. In the 1st & 2nd grade we experienced teachers who suggested my child see a doctor as they thought he may be 'ADD' and get on medication. Okay. I admit my child was not great at sitting in his chair but not that he is going into middle school (and has been away from Brookridge for 2 years - he has excelled more than ever, is a wonderful football player & that's just it - my child may not be a sitting at a desk quietly type of person but he does great at school & definitely does not need medication. I have also heard many other parents mention how teachers at this particular school suggest 'ADD' and medication. I think Johnson County is going downhill too. As of today & as far as I know - Shawnee Mission Public Schools has had to shut down 7 elementary schools and at least 1 middle school that I know of. Moral of the story - be prepared for teachers who do not know how to work with a wide variety of children & don't let them get your perfectly happy & healthy child down!!!
