The mission of Orlando s Public Works Department is to enhance its quality of life through the construction and operation of a safe, effective physical environment; and to provide its visitors, its neighborhoods, and its businesses the efficient, quality services necessary to support the infrastructure demands of its growing, diverse community. The Public Works Department plans, designs and constructs public projects; and reviews and inspects all capital improvements. It maintains streets and sidewalks; parks and city open spaces, street trees, lake and storm drainage facilities. It controls traffic movement; provides adequate parking for the downtown area; acquires, maintains and repairs all city vehicles; and provides maintenance, repair and minor construction services for all city structures.
