Founded in 1940, Barry University is a coeducational Catholic international university founded by the Dominican Sisters. It offers bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctoral degrees in a wide variety of majors. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Barry provides various courses, such as accounting, advertising, athletic training and biology. The university also offers preparation assistance for medical, dental, veterinary, podiatry, and research and government careers. Additionally, it provides courses in biotechnology, broadcast communication, cardiovascular perfusion, computer information sciences and criminology. Barry University s specialization courses include cytotechnology, diagnostic medical ultrasound technology, sport management, early childhood pre-k-primary education, ecological studies and foreign language studies. Monsignor William Barry Library houses more than 950,000 print and nonprint materials. Its library also participates in numerous local and national organizations, including the Southeast Florida Library Information Network. Barry University is located in Miami Shores, Fla.
