H.O.M.E., also known as Homeworkers Organized for More Employment, is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1970 as a craft cooperative. It is involved in economic reconstruction and social rehabilitation. The company has grown from a single retail store to a small community that offers jobs, food, education, temporary shelters and homeownership services to people and families in need. It operates a thrift shop, Abby's Attic, which stocks a variety of items. The organization also has a learning center that provides day care, literacy instruction, general education development classes, craft and computer training and desktop publishing services. It also includes a small museum, chapel, woodworking and stained glass shops, and pottery, weaving, quilting and stitchery studios. In addition, the organization has a publication department that is responsible for publishing a quarterly newsletter. H.O.M.E. is located in Orland, Maine.
