Founded in 1976, the UC Irvine Medical Center is an academic medical center and university hospital in Orange County, Calif. It is a 400-plus-bed facility that offers a range of acute and general care services. The center features regional burn, cancer care, trauma and neuropsychiatric centers. The UC Irvine Medical Center employs more than 400 specialty and primary care physicians. It is a part of the University of California, Irvine. Established in 1965, the parent agency is an educational institution with approximately 27,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and over 8,000 staff members.
