- Dental ExaminationA comprehensive examination is a detailed examination and thorough assessment intended to establish and record a baseline of oral health for a new or existing patient. The exam goes beyond the basics of a standard dental checkup by including evaluations and examinations intended to screen both general and oral health.
- X-raysWhether you’re in need of a single tooth repair with an inlay or onlay or you’re hoping to completely restore more extensive damage, our Orange dentists Dr. Christopher J. Fotinos and Dr. Randy A. Rosales can work with you to determine the right course of treatment to help you get the smile of your dreams. We’ll examine your mouth and take dental x-rays if necessary to determine the level of tooth decay and other damage that might be present. We’ll then talk with you about all of your treatment options to customize a smile restoration plan for you.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningDuring a teeth cleaning appointment, Dr Fotinos or Dr Rosales evaluates the patient’s teeth, gums and bone, looking for any signs of concern such as tooth damage, cavities, gum swelling, infection or discoloration. The dentist will also perform a simple oral cancer screening by palpating soft tissues around the neck and intraorally under the tongue and floor of the mouth. Your dental examination is also an excellent opportunity to discuss any symptoms, oral health concerns or cosmetic questions you have with the dentist.
- Teeth CleaningTo maintain optimal oral health and prevent the accumulation of harmful bacteria, healthy adults and children should have a professional dental cleaning every six months. Patients with additional health concerns, such as diagnosed periodontal disease, might need to visit the dentist for more frequent gum tissue therapy appointments( every 3 to 4 months) to keep plaque, tartar, and bacteria in check in areas of the mouth which they no longer have access to due to bone loss.
- FillingsExperiencing a single toothache or living with one amalgam filling can affect a person’s wellbeing. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that suffering from constant oral pain, extensive damage or significant aesthetic concerns will have a major impact on everyday life. While some patients can address their concerns with one or two minor treatments, others require a more comprehensive treatment plan that will revitalize their smile and relieve pain with a full mouth reconstruction.
- Resin CompositeThe cavity treatment procedure begins by comfortably numbing the patient’s surrounding tissues and using various techniques to remove the decayed portion of the tooth. The remaining tooth structure is then cleaned, disinfected, dried, desensitized and filled with a tooth-colored composite resin. The resin is then smoothed and shaped to achieve a natural bite and feel. Finally, the resin is cured and hardened with a special light and a final polish is preformed.
- VeneersPorcelain veneers are thin, shell-like porcelain structures that are designed to cover cosmetic imperfections and discolorations on the surface of patient’s teeth, while leaving the underlying tooth intact. They are as thin as a piece of a broken light bulb and are permanently bonded to the tooth surface increasing its strength and becoming an integral part of it.
- CrownsLike a hybrid of fillings and crowns, inlays and onlays are a conservative type of tooth restoration that repairs, fortifies, and protects a patient’s natural teeth. Made of durable porcelain, these custom-designed dental restorations are colored to match the surrounding teeth and permanently bonded to the natural tooth. They are used to repair moderately damaged teeth that don’t have severe problems to justify a crown, yet have too much damage to be adequately repaired with a standard filling.
- BridgesLiving with missing teeth not only makes it difficult to eat, drink, and speak normally, but can also change the way you look and diminish your confidence. If you’re missing one or more adjacent teeth, the simplest option for restoring your smile might be a dental bridge.
- Dental BondingWith proper care, dental bonding and tooth-colored fillings last about 15 years before they need to be refinished. Chewing on hard objects, grinding teeth at night or having missing adjacent teeth, put extra wear and tear on dental bonds and will shorten their lifespan.
- Restorative DentistryLuckily, advancements in modern cosmetic and restorative dentistry have led to the availability of several options for replacing multiple missing teeth. Complete smile restoration options include dentures, a full set of implants, and all-on-4 zirconia bridges. If you are a patient in need of replacing your upper, lower, or entire set of teeth, the all-on-4 method is a great option.
- Root Canal TreatmentA root canal is a procedure during which Dr Rosales or Dr Fotinos will completely remove the living and dead tissue from inside a compromised tooth. The tooth is then sterilized by cleaning out any bacteria or decay that’s present. After the tooth is sterile, it is then filled with a dental material and sealed.
- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyAlso referred to as gum contouring and gingival sculpting, gingivectomy and gingivoplasty are sometimes used interchangeably, as they’re often both performed during a single operation. The two procedures, however, are slightly different.
- Deep Cleaning
- DenturesConventional partial and complete dentures — these rely on the contours of adjacent teeth for support (for partial dentures) or the contours of bone and tissue (for complete dentures). These are a good short-term option, but long-term these may lead to mobility, poor fit, difficulty with basic functions, such as chewing and speaking.
- OverdenturesImplant Overdentures (removable) — This option is ideal for patients who want a dramatically improved denture retention by implants and prefer a removable denture. Cost is about 2-4 times that of a conventional denture. However, studies show that patients who choose implant overdentures (all on 4) instead of conventional dentures report the money was very well spent and the result greatly exceeded their expectations.
- Dental ImplantsDue to injury or age, losing teeth is a natural part of life. Missing teeth can cause discomfort, change your appearance, make eating difficult, and even affect your speech. In addition, failing to replace a missing tooth can result in jaw bone deterioration and malocclusion. There are several treatment options for replacing missing teeth, but the most comfortable and natural-feeling are dental implants.
- Oral SurgeryDr. Rosales’ work focuses on oral surgery, implant surgery, and cosmetic dentistry, but also provides comprehensive general dentistry. Whether you need wisdom teeth removed, a single implant, or perhaps something more extensive such as an implant denture, Dr. Rosales is the dentist to see.
- Tooth ExtractionsOur Orange, CA dentists do everything they can to preserve a patient’s natural teeth. Sometimes, however, this simply isn’t possible, and one or more teeth will need to be extracted. Fortunately, modern dental instruments and technology have simplified the tooth extraction process, making it much more pleasant.
- Bone GraftingBone grafting is a minor surgical procedure, during which a small bone is implanted using a special grafting material to increase the ridge width and/or height of a patient’s jaw bone. The bone graft stimulates the body to produce new bone. As the jaw bone grows, the graft will shrink and be reabsorbed into the body and final healing occurs over several months.

- BracesWhen considering the overall health and appearance of a patient’s mouth, the gums should never be overlooked. This soft pink tissue should hug your teeth and keep them healthy. When gums become infected due to periodontal disease or damaged due to dental appliances, like metal braces, they become unhealthy. Unhealthy gums might recede or increase in volume, change color, bleed, and even become painfully inflamed.
- Teeth WhiteningAbsolutely, without a doubt, there is no comparison between the two! Professional teeth whitening is the best because the entire process is doctor guided in detail until the patients expectations are met. Both in-office and at-home professional teeth whitening treatments start with a full mouth scan to fabricate a 3D model of your teeth which is sent to the dental laboratory where technicians fabricate unique whitening trays for your specific dentition. They use stronger solutions and whitening agents than those found in over-the-counter products to ensure consistency. As a result, the whitening solution is dispersed evenly, absorbed into the teeth correctly, producing much more consistent and higher quality results compared to off-the-shelf kits. Professional teeth whitening is also individually tailored to address each patient’s different degree of discoloration, tooth shape, and size.
- Cosmetic DentistryWhile cosmetic dentistry’s primarily focus is on aesthetics, the overall appearance of your teeth and smile, it also greatly improves your oral health. Cosmetic dentistry uses aesthetic sensibilities to create a smile that patients can show off confidently and the power of a confident smile can change a person’s life. Having a smile you feel proud of will not only leave you feeling more confident, but will also result in more personal and career opportunities, and a better outlook on life.
