Only reason we went there is because we had a gift-card. We've been there before and from the past the food is average or sub-par when it comes to cooking and present their meat dishes. This night they really slaughterd their prime rib dish horrible unpalatable. I asked for medium rare and got raw undercooked chewy pig tar.
I have been eating at this restaurant for years and every meal we have had there has been excellent. These people really know what their doing. I just love this place.
I have eaten here a couple of times with clients and have come away with the same impression each time that this is just another in a long list of chain steakhouses that always manager to serve a pretty good steak but nothing ever really says wow. The best steak that I have ever had in Omaha and possibly anywhere for that matter is Prestige which is just a few minutes down the street. It seems to me that if you are going to have a steak in Omaha you just have to go to the locally owned restaurants, which I am told Prestige is, and stay away from the chain places. I think Johnny's has a pretty nice atmosphere inside but I am not real keen on taking a client to the mall for dinner and drinks.
Obviously they put their money into the building hoping that us dumb folks from Omaha would not notice that they are using inferior cuts of beef.
This was an excellent restaurant. Service was great and the food was delicious! I highly recommend the parmesan crusted steak, probably the best steak I've ever had. Lighting was a little dim but still creates a romantic and calming atmosphere.
If Johnny's keeps this standard of food and service it will be around long after many others have closed. Great food and excellent service.
that Johnny's manages to survive over the crappy chain restaurants. Fantastic food, historic atmosphere. I'm thrilled we have this blast from the past. Steaks are to die for!
When I die and go to heaven, they will serve me Johnny's chateaubriand. Why would any fool eat at a chain restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska? Johnny's is perfect. If it's good enough for Jack Nicholson, it's good enough for me.
The Veal Sinatra was fabulous! And how can you miss with Surf and Turf. We will return.
Incredible food for the price! Don't miss it.
