Established in 1889, Washington Elementary is an educational institution that serves students in kindergarten through grade six. The school offers Title I, English Language Learners, and gifted and talented education programs. It conducts classes for students with disabilities, as well as offers instruction in physical education, art and vocal music. Washington Elementary supports activities, such as band and string instrument playing. The school operates a student council and leadership, ambassador and chess clubs. Its staff includes a speech teacher, media specialist, resource officer, nurse, psychologist, social worker, and occupational and physical therapists. The school operates a parent-teacher organization that conducts fundraising activities. Located in Olathe, Kan., it offers meals and publishes a newsletter that carries updates on school events.
