- Dental ExaminationYour initial appointment will start with a conversation between you and Dr. Swearingen, wherein you’ll get to discuss your dental history, goals, as well as any pressing concerns you might have. After this, he’ll perform a thorough oral exam, take some X-rays, and then he’ll discuss his observations with you. Next, one of our hygienists will give you a refreshing cleaning, and then you’ll be escorted to the front desk to discuss your financial options.
- X-rays
- Oral Cancer ScreeningOral cancer rates are currently on the rise here in the U.S., and early detection is absolutely essential to the successful treatment of the disease. This is why Dr. Swearingen recommends that all adults should have at least one oral cancer screening per year. He can perform one as part of your regular checkups to make sure you’re never caught off guard by this disease. It only takes a couple of minutes, but it could literally be the thing that saves you or a loved one’s life.
- Teeth CleaningAnd afterward, our hygienist will use specialized tools to give you a dental cleaning. This will remove all of the plaque and tartar that has accumulated on your teeth that can lead to cavities, plus it will help break up surface stains to leave your smile nice and white!
- Fluoride TreatmentFor a very long time, fluoride has been known to help strengthen the teeth against both decay and cavities, which is why you’ll so often find it added to toothpaste and even public water sources. To help keep your family’s smiles extra protected between appointments, we can provide a topical fluoride treatment as part of your regular checkups. It only takes a few minutes, is completely painless, and it can help keep everyone cavity-free all year!
- Dental SealantsOnce permanent teeth begin coming in, It is helpful to get sealants put on any teeth that have deep grooves or pits, which will greatly aid in preventing cavities in those teeth. We provide these in our office!
- FillingsDr. Swearingen doesn't use amalgam fillings. Instead, he prefers the more advanced technology of white composite fillings. While amalgam fillings are made up of metals, composite fillings are made of a combination of glass or quartz and resin materials which are blended, giving them a very natural-looking appearance.
- Resin CompositeWithout altering the appearance of your teeth. These fillings are made of a composite resin, which in addition to being just as strong and durable as silver, can also be specially shaded to match a patient’s tooth color. Even better, this material allows us to use smaller fillings while repairing the teeth, enabling our team to preserve more of your natural teeth’s strength in the process.
- VeneersIf you’re looking to hide the imperfections of your smile, there are plenty of viable options available. However, if you want to truly transform it, the best solution is porcelain veneers in Oklahoma City. These thin coverings fit nicely over your tooth, hiding any flaw and creating a beautiful, uniform smile. Dr. Don Swearingen is ready to help you achieve the smile of your dreams, but before you come in for your consultation, you might fit that you have some questions about the process. - BridgesDespite the latest innovations in dentistry, tooth loss is still a problem for many Americans. If you’re among those who have lost a tooth or two over the years, you don’t need to live with an incomplete smile. The most convenient solution to replace 1 to 3 teeth in a row is with a dental bridge in Oklahoma City. Dr. Swearingen will rebuild a beautiful, functional smile using advanced dental technology.
- Dental BondingFirst, the surface area of the tooth where the bonding will take place is roughened slightly to make it easier to apply. A composite restorative bonding agent is then placed over the defective area. Dr. Swearingen will shape it and use a special light to harden the bonding material. The edges may be feathered so that the repair will be undetectable. The final step is for it to be trimmed and polished. Well done dental bonding is indistinguishable from the rest of your tooth.
- Restorative DentistryEventually, absolutely everyone needs a bit of restorative dentistry. Chipped, cracked, broken, decayed, and missing teeth are very common problems
- Root Canal TreatmentIf you have a toothache, you may need a root canal treatment. Though root canals tend to have a bad reputation, people who've had the procedure can tell you it is not nearly as painful as many people are led to believe. In fact, it is about the same amount of discomfort as having a cavity filled. However, we are not insensitive to patients with dental phobias. If you are nervous, be assured you will be well cared for. We even offer nitrous oxide gas if you'd rather be sedated during the procedure. You can learn more on our technology page.
- Deep CleaningPeriodontal therapy allows us to tackle the most common dental problem we see every day: periodontal disease. Also known as gum disease, this infection of the gums and bone that support the teeth can lead to symptoms like chronic bad breath, gum recession, and even tooth loss! We’ll screen your gums whenever you come to see us, so if you show any signs of the infection, we can quickly take care of it with scaling and root planing, a deep cleaning designed to attack periodontal disease right at its source.
- DenturesIt is ideal to do everything possible to save your own teeth, but sometimes that just isn't possible. We will look at all the treatment options available to you, and most of the time, we will suggest the ones that will enable you to preserve your teeth. While there is no perfect substitution for your own natural teeth, it is possible to get well-made dentures that look completely natural. The results can give you a healthy smile and renewed confidence.
- OverdenturesOverdentures can help stabilize a pair of complete dentures. Even at their tightest fit, there may still be some moving around. To lessen this, we can place the denture over the roots of a couple of remaining teeth, or we can use two or more dental implants to anchor your denture. When an overdenture is placed over your own teeth, which are usually the cuspid teeth, the teeth are ground down, root canal treatments are done, and the denture is made to fit over them.
- Dental ImplantsHaving missing teeth in Oklahoma City doesn’t just drag down your self-esteem, it also takes a toll on your oral and overall health. Whether you’re missing a single tooth or all of them, dental implants restore their structure from the root up, stimulating the jawbone and providing you with a restorative solution unlike any other. With a natural look and feel, you’ll be able to smile, laugh, and speak with complete confidence. Plus, because Dr. Don Swearingen equips his office with the latest technology and comforts, you’ll be able to relax and kick your feet back while you’re working towards regaining the full function of your mouth.

- Tooth ExtractionsEvery HealthChoice benefit plan will be unique because these policies are geared toward offering the patient options, so they receive all of their necessary dental care at a price they can afford. Like other dental benefit plans, HealthChoice policies outline coverage for a percentage of the costs of necessary dental treatments in exchange for the payment of a monthly plan premium. Under HealthChoice dental plans, most preventive dentistry services are 100% covered by the insurer. Basic, necessary dental care like fillings or tooth extractions are covered 85%. More advanced restorative dentistry services like dentures and bridgework are covered 60%. Orthodontic treatments are covered 50% under most plans, but you should check your policy elections to ensure your benefits include orthodontic treatments.
- OrthodonticsBecause we’re in-network with HealthChoice, you can rest assured that you’ll receive the maximum coverage for all of your necessary dentistry needs. Whether or not you visit an in-network dentist, HealthChoice plans will offer some coverage. At an in-network office, there are two major benefits. The first is that we agree to pricing set by your insurer, so you won’t need to worry about paying the difference in cost as well as your out of pocket percentage of the fees. Additionally, HealthChoice offers varying coverage percentages at in and out of network offices for some services. Preventive care is still covered 100% and orthodontics are still covered 50%. However, basic dentistry procedures are only covered at 70%, and advanced dentistry service costs only receive 50% coverage.
