The Riverdale City Police Department operates an investigation division and organizes various community-policing and neighborhood watch programs. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an educational program that helps to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, violence and gang activities. The department provides animal control and vacation check services.
