Founded in 1958, Heights Elementary School is one of the largest and oldest of elementary schools in Oakland, N.J. It enrolls more than 430 students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school promotes the social, emotional and academic development of children. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as art, math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and health and physical education. The school has a student council that sponsors several fundraising programs throughout the year. It involves students in chorus, orchestra and band. The school s parent-teacher organization works with staff members and conducts enrichment programs based on students needs and interests. Heights Elementary School is administered by Oakland Public Schools.
