- General Info
- International Association of Lions is a community service organization that assists the disabled, blind and youth. Lions are dedicated to giving back to their communities by providing community parks, playgrounds, senior citizen programs and medical care for those in need. Sightfirst is the Lions program that assists the blind and visually impaired. The organization provides more than 600,000 free glaucoma screenings, 5 million pairs of used eyeglasses to developing countries, Braille-writers and guide dogs. The organization offers youth programs, which includes the international peace poster contest, youth exchange programs, and youth outreach programs that assist youth in becoming responsible adults. A local Lions club initiates membership to the organization. The organization was established in 1917 and is headquartered in Illinois.
