Additionally, it provides onions of all sizes, such as colossal and super colossal sizes. Snake River Produce Company s shipping and packing begins with the new crop in August each year and extends till April from storage. The onion growers of the region annually produce more than 40 percent of the onions in the United States. The industry of Idaho-eastern Oregon falls under a Federal Marketing Order that regulates size and quality standards. Each of the more than 20,000 truckloads of fresh-packed onions is checked by state inspectors to ensure that the onions meet Federal standards for sizing and quality before the load is shipped.
