General Info

Nuview Bridge Early College High School became California's Seventh Early College High School in September 2005. NBECHS is an innovative program offered through the Nuview Union School District ( NUSD ) in partnership with Riverside Community College, Moreno Valley and California School for the Arts. We are located on both the high school and college campus and work closely with the college to provide our students with a nurturing and academically challenging environment. Our students are diverse ethnically and culturally, and include those with academic potential who may not be performing to the levels that they need to succeed in college and high-skill careers. The cornerstone of the Early College High School program is a rigorous and relevant curriculum that encourages high order thinking skills and collaborative learning. Students are offered four pathways: Health, Computer Technology, Art, and Early Childhood Studies. We are in the process of developing a public Safety Pathway which will include Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Students are not required to choose a pathway although we do encourage them to identify their short and long term goals. Our curriculum is standards-based, teachers are highly qualified, and instruction is innovative and adapted to different learning styles. Our students are active participants in the design and implementation of their education through goal setting and self-monitoring of progress towards learning results and standards. All students are enrolled in a college preparatory sequence and receive the academic and motivational support to succeed. Students receive career and college counseling while taking college courses toward a chosen major, certificate, and/or Associate's degree. All students are also enrolled in Advancement via Individual Determination ( AVID ) - a nationally recognized, research proven program that helps traditionally underserved students succeed academically and attend college. The AVID model reinforces our approach of collaboration and team teaching, inquiry rather than lecture, writing across the curriculum, and the development of study skills. In addition to emphasizing academic excellence, college success, and independent learning, we foster healthy physical and emotional development. Our college liaison, high school and college counselors, provides significant support to students and families. Additionally our small class sizes allows for more individual attention and consistent academic and emotional support. The school culture and climate of NBECHS is structured to engage and motivate our young people to succeed. NBECHS students rise to meet all expectations and make themselves, and us, proud.
