Established in 1998, NBT Capital Corp. is a venture capital corporation formed to assist new businesses. It is an operating subsidiary of NBT Bank, N.A., which is a full-service community bank formed in 1856. The bank provides a broad range of financial products to individuals, corporations and municipalities throughout New York, northeastern Pennsylvania and Vermont. It also offers a wide array of lending options, such as consumer, home equity, mortgages, small business and commercial loans. NBT Bank, N.A. conducts business through two operating divisions: NBT Bank and Pennstar Bank. It is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and is an Equal Housing Lender.

Extremely and accommodating. No problem too big or too small. It's nice just going into the bank because the employees are so freindly and they have great music playing!
NBT is the most incompetent bank I have ever dealt with in 40 years of banking. For just one example - they returned a check for insufficient funds - despite having the funds. They corrected it their error, but the inconvenience and embarrassment caused me to close the account. The online account access is a joke - poorly done and not updated. To access your account via phone you literally have to input up to 50 key presses! And that isn't up to date either. The tellers seem confused and completely unknowledgeable. The managers aren't much better.Any other bank is far superior and is the safest choice.
