  Keep your retainer clean, too, by brushing it gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste. You may also soak it in denture cleaner as instructed by your orthodontist. Do not put your retainer in boiling water or in the dishwasher.

  Dr. Timothy Finelli was raised in West Islip, NY. He attended Tufts University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Returning to Long Island for his dental training, Dr. Finelli graduated first in his class from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. Immediately following dental school, he completed two years of training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Boston University. Since completing his residency in 2001, he has been a practicing orthodontist in a large pediatric practice located in Peabody, MA.
