General Info
The 200 miles of waterfront in Cecil County are a source of great pleasure for those who enjoy boating. For the Trainer's of North East, these waters support a family business that has prospered for three decades. It all started about 37 years ago when Ed Trainer opened a sporting goods shop on Route 272, the road leading into North East. The shop sold hunting and fishing supplies including guns and small aluminum boats. As the business grew, Butch added larger boats. In 1973 he closed the shop and opened Anchor Boats just down the street. Around 1980, he opened Anchor Marina down in the North East Harbor. Today, the two businesses are thriving and Butch's sons, Edward and Matt, have taken over the day-to-day operations, under Dad's close supervision. Anchor Boats offers sales and service on Mauldin Avenue. They have been a top dealer of Wellcraft boats for 25 years. Anchor sold Wellcraft boats exclusively until Wellcraft cut back their full line, (fishing boats, family sport boats, family cruisers, and high performance boats) to manufacture only fishing boats. To create a full line for their customers, Anchor added other manufacturers: Bryant for family sport boats, Monterey for family cruisers and Hustler boats as a high performance line. Anchor Boats is a volume dealer for these manufacturers and offer volume discounting. Customer Service Customer service is top priority at Anchor Boats. They have one of the highest customer service ratings in the country for Wellcraft, Monterey, and Bryant boats. They have received top honors from Wellcraft for the last several years with the highest CSI rating in the country. Not only will you get the best price at Anchor you will get the best service as well. The other half of the family business, Anchor Marina, is located on Iroquois Drive in the North East Harbor's across from the town park. The dry dock storage buildings (often called boatels or "high and dry) house nearly 400 boats. The marina also has 15 boat slips, eight of them equipped with lifts. Floating docks for the use of the dry-dock customers house another 50 to 60 boats. The marina also has a pump-out station, gas service, a boat ramp, and a small hardware store. The Nauti Goose Saloon next door offers meals and snacks for hungry boaters. Anchor Boats and Anchor Marina host the largest private boat show on the upper Chesapeake Bay each year on the first weekend in May. The Trainer's invite other local dealers to participate, but they keep the show non-competitive.
