Build-A-Bear Workshop is one of the only companies that offer an interactive make-your-own-stuffed animal retail-entertainment experience. Established in 1997, the company operates more than 200 stores in the United States and Canada. The addition of franchise stores in Europe, Asia and Australia make it a leader in the interactive retail market. In 2004, the company expanded from stuffed animals to dolls with the opening of its first friends 2B made store, in which guests can make their own dolls. The company offers a coordinated selection of merchandise that includes more than 30 different styles of animals to be stuffed and a variety of clothing, shoes and accessories for the stuffed animals. Its concept appeals to a range of age groups and demographics, such as children, teens, parents and grandparents.
