- GynecologyDr. Muto is a board certified gynecologic surgeon specializing in the treatment of female cancers. He is affiliated with both the Dana Farber and the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston as well as the Lowell General Cancer Center. He is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School and is Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program.

- Colon CancerHaving exceptional training in both vascular and general surgery, Dr. Muto is proficient in complex surgical techniques as well as minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery. She is dedicated to the improvement of women's health, including the treatment and screening for breast and colon cancer, the treatment of peripheral vascular disease, and stroke prevention. Her commitment to limb preservation led her to establish one of the first centers for wound care in the Merrimack Valley, offering patients some of the most up-to-date techniques in venous and arterial surgery. She is dedicated to educating the local medical community in the prevention and treatment of advanced venous disease.
- Lung CancerRudolph Muto established his practice of thoracic surgery in 1962 after completing his training in cardiothoracic surgery at the prestigious Overholt Clinic in Boston. A pioneer in safe surgery for the treatment of lung cancer as well as chronic lung disease, Dr. Muto was one of the first specialists in the Merrimack Valley, bringing complex surgery to his community, thus allowing patients the choice of remaining close to home for their care. His reputation and skill were well known, and he educated the entire medical community in the proper treatment of patients with cardiac and lung disease.
- UltrasoundJoann is a certified ultrasonographer with decades of experience in vascular ultrasound. She is recognized both in New England and around the world for her expertise in venous disease. She is graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture and is a certified Reiki master. At Muto Surgical, she offers our patients not only the best available technology, but an alternative approach to their medical problems.
- General SurgeryHe earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University then went onto New York Medical College. After training in General Surgery at Boston University Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the Boston VA Medical Center. Dr. Gordon continued his academic medicine career as an assistant professor in surgery until 2000, when he entered private practice with Vascular Associates of the Merrimack Valley. In 2003, he joined his wife and father-in-law in private practice. He is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the Board of Preventive and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is also a Registered Vascular Technologist.
- Wound CareThe Muto Surgical team is committed to the early diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease, including stroke prevention, aneurysm detection, and limb salvage. Our surgeons are fellowship-trained and experienced in academic and community practices, and are thus able to offer their patients various wound care treatments. Our patients have experienced excellent results with surgical intervention, aggressive risk factor modification, and the latest medical therapies. Our surgeons work closely with Shared Diagnostics Inc., the only certified vascular laboratory in the Merrimack Valley.
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryDr. Gordon is a well-trained general and vascular surgeon with expertise in wound care and the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease. He is also an experienced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeon, offering patients screening colonoscopies for cancerdetection as well as minimally invasive surgery for cancer treatment.

- Skin CareThrough our “Lunch and Learn”, we provide an on-site program, led by our skilled nurses to educate and support our community’s physicians, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants on how to recognize the early signs of venous disease, how to provide proper skin care and compression, and when to refer a patient. We also provide educational materials, nursing services, and consultative support. Our aim is to work with you to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and costly wound services.
