Founded in 1997, Prairieland Elementary School offers classes for students in grades kindergarten through five. It also offers cognitively impaired and early intervention special education programs. The school has an enrollment of more than 500 students. It publishes a monthly newsletter that offers information on upcoming events, students achievements and educational fairs. Located in Normal, Ill., the school also maintains a Web site that serves as an information source for students, staff, parents and the community. It features staff email, Web site directories and school calendars. Prairieland Elementary School is a part of the McLean County Unit District Number 5 that includes more than 10 congressional townships. It employs more than 1,700 staff members and educates over 11,700 students. The district operates a fleet of more than 45 buses that provides transportation services for students.
