Located in Newport, R.I., the City of Newport Fire Department is responsible for providing services related to the prevention and control of fires, accidents and other emergencies. The department in administered by The City of Newport. Founded in 1986, it maintains a ladder truck, rescue wagon, rescue Jet Ski and special hazard trailers. The City of Newport Fire Department offers firefighting, emergency medical and fire prevention services to more than 25,000 citizens. The department employs over 90 staff and line personnel. Its special hazards division specializes in undertaking various rescue operations, including water, ice, high angle, confined space and hazardous material.
