Operational for more than 30 years, Turning Point is a nonprofit organization that offers human service programs for people in Northeastern Massachusetts. It serves adults with mental retardation and individuals who are in need of substance abuse counseling. The organization additionally provides services to victims of domestic violence and substance abuse. Turning Point offers residential home and apartment programs to more than 150 people daily. It provides a family services program that includes transitional housing, education and training, and individual and group counseling services to battered women. The organization offers comprehensive care on a range of issues, such as relapse prevention, trauma survival, criminal behavior modification, partner abuse and anger management. In addition, Turning Point's services include drug and alcohol evaluations, treatment planning and crisis intervention. It maintains a location in Newburyport, Mass.
