Formed in 1886, the Newburg Fire Department is a full-service, volunteer public safety agency that works to preserve lives and property through fire prevention and suppression, public education, rescue and emergency medical services. It serves in an area of more than 50 square miles and employs several line officers, lieutenants, firefighters and paramedics. The department operates a fleet of rescue vehicles, engines, tankers, boats, and utility and brush trucks. The Newburg Fire Department maintains a communication and dispatch center that coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls. It offers information regarding fire and home safety. The department also provides various employment opportunities to citizens.
