Ridge Street Elementary School offers educational instruction to students in grades kindergarten through eight. The school has an enrollment of more than 700 students and offers classes in mathematics, social studies, science, health education, English, arts and crafts, music and physical education. It also offers several after school programs to students throughout the school year that include the After School Youth Development, Gear Up and Project Pride. Its parent-teacher association sponsors various family events and academic enrichment programs. The school s mascot is tiger and has athletic teams in basketball, cheerleading, softball and track and field. It offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as art club, debate, math Olympians, chorus, peer mediators, school patrols and student council. Ridge Street Elementary School is governed by the Newark Public School District and is located in Newark, N.J. Within the district, it is a part of the School Leadership Team IV.
