General Info
Ruff Customers Dog Training provides basic and advanced obedience training for city dwellers and their dogs. We work with puppies from 8 weeks of age to dogs of ANY age. We also work with dogs having fear and aggression-related behavior issues. Our methods are cutting-edge, gentle, and effective. We use positive reinforcement, including clicker training and lure/reward. For behavior cases we specialize in Constructional Aggression Treatment (C.A.T.)-based methods as well as standard desensitization and counter-conditioning. Leigh Sansone, JD, CPDT, PMCT, of Ruff Customers, is the thinking person's dog trainer. A lawyer by training, Leigh applied the research skills she honed as a Manhattan litigator to learning the most effective, modern, and humane methods of dog training and behavior modification. She has studied with ground breaking, world-renowned dog trainers and behavior consultants such as Sue Sternberg, Pia Silvani, and Pat Miller. A full-time dog trainer, Leigh teaches daily obedience classes for puppies and older dogs and works privately with dogs having fear and aggression-related behavior issues. Leigh has twin goals: first, to educate dogs and their people while making the learning process enjoyable; and second, to debunk the all-too-prevalent, outdated mythology regarding dog behavior and training methods. Training should be fun! And, best of all, fun, positive training will result in a gratifying lifetime relationship between people and dogs.

Ruff Customers Dog Training is the best. I can't say enough about them! My Rottie/Pittie mix, Roscoe and I first started working with Leigh when he was just 6 months. She is fabulous. Her approach to dog training is right on the money. Roscoe had some issues, but we we were able to work through them and we couldn't be any happier. I highly recommend them.
