Apartment hunting in NYC is stressful enough, but with the help of Fernando, he made it simple, easy and seamless. He is a pleasure to work with, very responsive, and truly takes a vested interest in making sure his clients are happy.

Over the course of a few weeks, I sent Fernando many, many emails and he never once seemed frustrated or annoyed with my constant questions. Always professional, extremely knowledgeable - I am recommending him to anyone I know who is searching for an apartment.

I must say I'm not the reviewer type but after being swindled by NY Living Solutions I couldn't let this pass.



In January of this year I contacted Jelena Koprivica to have her help me and my family in finding a rental in downtown Manhattan. Upon our first meeting I gave Jelena my search criteria: 2BD, 2BA, pet friendly, price range and NO FEE. Jelena took us out to see 2 apartments the first day and told Jan was way too early to look for a March rental and I should reengage with her in Feb sometime.



During the first week of Feb I did reengage with Jelena and when I texted her to confirm our appt for Sat Feb 8th I also resent my criteria (2BD, 2BA, pet friendly, price range and NO FEE). On Sat Feb 8th Jelena K never showed up for our appt but instead made arrangements for Jelena Grahovac to show my family what Apts she had avaiable. At that time I verbally confirmed she had our criteria (most of all NO FEE Apts), to which she confirmed she did.



On that Sat Jelena Grahovac took us out to see approx 5 Apts, the last one of which we liked but it was slightly above our price range.



A couple weeks later Jelena G took my family out to see an Apt, which we didn't care for. After this visit she explained to us that she has basically exhausted her inventory and had nothing else. She did although mention that something was coming up soon in one of the bldgs she took us to on Feb 8th, but that Apt wasn't a "No Fee" Apt. I asked why a bldg that we viewed just a couple of weeks before was now charging a fee, to which she replied " I dont know but they are charging now", unwilling to look me in my eye when she responded.



At this point I was slightly suspicious so I called the bldg to see if they would honor the "No Fee", especially since we were just there a couple of weeks back. This is when the bldg explained that they haven't paid a brokers fee in several years and confided that this is a technique commonly used by brokers. What they do is take you to a bldg that wont pay the brokers fee under the false pretense that its actually a "No Fee" bldg and if you like the Apt then the break it to you that there is actually a fee. At this point you are essentially locked out of that Apt for 120 days (because of the form you signed with the agency before they'll even begin to show you Apts).



So, at this point I was weeks away from my previous lease expiring and there were no other Apts available that fit my criteria. My wife and I made a decision to take that Apt and called Jelena G to notify her that we were going to take that Apt and we felt she was dishonest and didnt deserve a fee for this Apt.



Several weeks later after getting an email from Arnon Barzilai CFO and Managing Member I called him to discuss the situation and explain exactly what happened and why I didnt feel I should pay the broker fee. Two minutes into the phone call, after I introduced myself, Arnon started screaming and cursing at me like a mad man. I calmly waited for him to finish and explained my disappointment with such a response from someone who runs a brokerage agency.



NYLS ultimately took us to court and the Arbitrator ruled in their favor. I have since paid up on the judgement but it was an extremely hard lesson learned.



First, you can do all of your NY rental searches online and brokers really offer NOTHING addt'l when renting in NYC. The second lesson is as long as you sign that paper with the agency they can mislead you and take you to Apts that actually have fees until the cows come home and essentially lock you out of renting those apts (without a fee) for 120 days (or as long as the form you signed stipulates).



This was a hard lesson learned for me and my family and I do believe in karma and one day this will come around to both Jelena K and Jelena G and NY Living Solutions.

I worked with Delroy Bodley twice; first when I moved to NYC in 2013, then again when I moved to San Francisco in 2014. Delroy helped me find a place in the neighborhood I wanted even though I couldn't be on site to see it. He had backup plans and everything, which helped because my first choice fell through. When I moved to SF he helped me find a subletter and worked TIRELESSLY. Weekends, holidays, and nights. Even for a puny 2 month sublease. He always kept me updated and even sent me my mail after I left the apartment. We hit a few roadblocks along the way, but he always kept pushing forward. 10/10, A+

Moving long-distance is never easy, so it was important I find a helpful agent to show me the ropes. Prior to my visit, Delroy Bodley asked me questions to figure out what was important to me. During a visit to NYC to find my first apartment there, he showed me several apartments in Brooklyn and Manhattan that met my key criteria. He showed a genuine interest in helping me find the right place!

Fantastic! I worked with Jelena Koprivica and she was an absolute delight to work with. Friendly, professional, honest. First of all, I was making a move from CA to NY and had to find a place either within 5 days or while I was still out of town. I met with Jelena multiple times, she showed me so many great apartments and even gave me tips about the neighborhood! The thing I loved about her the most was that she was never pushy or aggressive. She made sure I turned in all my lease paperwork on time, but she was never pushy. I ended getting a great luxury apartment in a building i LOVE. Oh, and did I mention that she helped me secure a place/submit all my paperwork, all while I was still out of town?! Jelena is amazing and I would recommend her to any of my friends.

It was a pleasure working with Jelena - she found me an apartment downtown within a couple of days. I lost the first apartment I saw to someone else, but she called me as soon as another unit was available in the building and I was very pleased. She is friendly and informative and didn't try to pressure me in any way. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!
