- The New York Public Library is a privately managed, nonprofit corporation. Operational for more than 100 years, the library has a collection of books and reference materials. It maintains a network of community libraries in the United States. The New York Public Library offers a variety of databases, catalogues and articles. The library organizes community outreach programs that include English learning and adult literacy classes, as well as offers services to several correctional facilities and individuals without homes and with disabilities. It provides articles based on various topics, such as art, literature, early childhood, ethnic heritage, health and world languages. The New York Public Library operates The Branch Libraries and The Research Libraries. In addition, its list of customers include American Heart Association, APG Investments, Bingham McCutchen, Cornell University, Emigrant Savings Bank and Fordham University.
