Founded in 1836, The Harlem Dowling-West Side Center for Children and Family Services is a nonprofit, multiservice agency that provides foster care, adoption, therapeutic placement and supportive housing solutions. The center serves and assists more than 2,500 children and families in crisis and distress situations. It offers an extended day program that includes tutorial services and activities, such as craft making, creative arts, and dance and computer classes. The Harlem Dowling-West Side Center for Children and Family Services provides family preservation and support solutions and partners with government agencies, educational institutions, community organizations and corporations. It operates the Queens Outreach Center and the Far Rockaway Family Services Center. The Harlem Dowling-West Side Center for Children and Family Services serves the residents of Central Harlem, Washington Heights, Southeast Queens and Far Rockaway in New York.
