  Typically, cosmetic dentistry involves the addition of a dental material to teeth or gums—bonding, porcelain veneers (laminates), crowns (caps), or gum grafts—or the removal of tooth structure or gums, also known as enameloplasty and gingivectomy. Orthodontics is also considered cosmetic dentistry.   Dentures are held into place by surface area contact, training the lips and the tongue. On the upper arch there can be a suction-like fit. The lower arch is not usually secured as well. Often patients need denture adhesive to help secure dentures.
