The atmosphere is clean and professional. The barber chairs are big and comfortable. The barbers don't spray your head until water is dripping off your nose before they start cutting. Each station has a wash basin where they clean and condition your hair, You're not walking all over the place with that stupid apron wrapped around your neck. After you're washed, they ask you what you want, and by that they don't go "What number do you want on the side?" or "rounded or squared". What kind of a question is that anyway? (They have never asked me if I want my neck line rounded or squared). They actually use scissors to cut the sides, not electric clippers with a plastic guard on it. If you want a military cut, join the Army. And if I didn't mention the straight razor/hot foam neckline trim, I'd be crazy. (Only certified barbers can use the straight razor, and they'll do your face and neck for a little more money.)Fifth ave Barber Shop is my Choice in barbers.

As I write this, its my birthday and also the fifth anniversary of my going to fifth ave barber shop. I pay for what I want, and think if you like something pay for it. At first I thought the prices were high until I compared them to other shops. I'm happy to say some are cheaper and is exactly what you have when they and finished, a cheap look. At fifth ave barber I would whatever they ask because you can't find a finer set of professionals. Each time they cut my hair precisely as I wish, no problems here. They always take their time at cutting my thinning hair and make me feel like a man of forty again, I'm sixty five now. Good going fellows. You got my vote.

Man life in Midtown Manhattan just got better for me I had one of my best hair cutting experience I've had so far. Only problem with all hair cuts I get outside of Chinatown is, no one seems to know how to cut Asian hair except for Asians and Fifth Ave barber shop. That's why Fifth ave barber shop gets all types of customers. I thought it was very professional and old school style, great for guys. A bit expensive for me but worth the experience.
