AIChE, which stands for American Institute of Chemical Engineers, is the one of the leading organizations for chemical engineering professionals with more than 40,000 members from over 93 countries. Its members work in corporations, universities and government agencies that require knowledge of chemical processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society. The organization provides resources on chemical engineering research in various areas, such as nanotechnology, sustainability, hydrogen fuels, biological and environmental engineering and chemical plant safety and security. AIChE has three centers, including the Society for Biological Engineering, Center for Chemical Process Safety and Institute for Sustainability. The organization is headquartered in New York City.
