Dr. Vaikunth is a board-certified general surgeon who has been in practice since 2001 and has advanced training in minimally invasive laparoscopic, bariatric and robotic surgical procedures. He began preparing for his career in medicine as an undergraduate student at Brown University in Providence, RI, and went on to graduate with honors from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He undertook his surgical residency within the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich. and at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, La., followed by advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
