PT Freeport Indonesia is a part of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, which is an international mining company that operates various assets with probable reserves of copper, gold and molybdenum. It conducts exploration activities in more than 500,000-acre area known as Block B in Papua. The company produces copper concentrates that contain significant quantities of gold and silver. It sells over 1 billion pounds of copper and nearly 1 million ounces of gold annually. The company undertakes several projects in progress throughout the Grasberg minerals district and develops large-scale, high-grade underground ore bodies. Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold conducts operations through its operating subsidiaries Freeport-McMoRan Corporation and Atlantic Copper.
