My name is Ricardo Ortiz, son of Msg Ortiz, U.S. Army retired... When asked where am I from, I always say Louisiana. You see, growing up was hard having to move all time. Losing friends, starting new, at new schools. Yea, It was rough, then in 1980 my father was stationed in Ft Polk. 1984. A year later Uncle Sam send us back to Louisan. By this time music had became a love of mine. Because of my diverse up bringing eclectic was my taste. I started going to Skate Palace when i was 10 years old, and from the start the music had me. Yea it was top 40, but I was a kid, so hey it was top 40! Now I am 34 years old, and all the music they played then, everyone is trying to listen to now. As for myself, anytime I hear certain bands or songs all I can thank about is that disco ball, those lights, and all the freedom in the world one a hard wood floor. Many times I find myself closing my eyes and listening to the music. If home is where the heart is, my heart is in Skate Palace. Love you Benda!
